Circus, Circus show at Hive Gallery LA 2012

I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to show my work at Hive Gallery this June and meet Nathan Cartwright, a wonderfully generous person.  Nathan is the man behind Hive Gallery and Studios.  About this time last year, he welcomed my art on a recommendation, sight unseen, for his first annual Circus Circus show.  I sent him this painting.

DIY Circus I, 24″x8″, Oil and Mixed Media on Canvas

Is this work a fit with the Hive Gallery?  I wasn’t sure, but there was interest in this piece before it even left my studio.  (always encouraging 🙂 )

This year Nathan invited me to be a featured artist for the second annual Circus, Circus show.  (I guess the previous work was a fit.)  I wasted no time getting to LA!

Sent 5 paintings – based on Michelangelo’s Last Judgement in the Sistine Chapel – here is one of the paintings I sent.

36 hours on the ground = a day of gallery visits in Santa Monica and Culver City, happy hour drinks and appetizers with my husband at our beautiful hotel (more on that later), a super fun opening night party with crazy costumes, amazing artists, and insane entertainment at Hive Gallery, meet up with dear friends for brunch and art at the Getty, and back on the plane home.  Perfect!!!!!!

Scroll down to see photo’s of opening night.  I am still getting the hang of things here on word press so sorry if the photo’s are a bit of a jumble.
